FAQs
Q) Can I lay insulation directly over these downlights?
A) Yes insulation can be laid directly on top of this range of downlights. As long as you're using GU10 LEDs (not halogen) you can lay insulation directly on top without needing any other accessories. This allows your downlight installation to be more energy efficient as it prevents the need to cut around it. This stops heat from escaping from the room below.Q) Are these downlights supplied with the bezel?
A) Yes the bezel is included in the price on our website. When you select your desired finish, you get 2 items together, the downlight can and the bezel. The bezel twists into the can. The same can is used for the fixed and bathroom IP65 downlights, the bezels are different.Q) Which lamps are suitable?
A) As long as you select 'perfect fit' sized lamps they will fit. These lamps are around 55mm in height and are designed as halogen replacements. Longer LEDs such as the original Philips Philips Hue won't fit as they're 80mm in height and are too deep. The Aurora 5W can be added from the product options. It offers a low energy alternative to a 50W halogen and comes with a wide 60 degree beam angle which helps to distribute light more evenly, allowing you to position your downlights further apart and install less of them. -

Yes Insulation Coverable SpecificationsIn order to achieve Part L Compliance (energy efficiency) you shouldn't cut around thermal insulation. If you do this your home or building won't be energy efficient as valuable heat will escape through the hole of the downlight.
A downlight can act like a chimney and draw out warm, rising air from a room, up into the cold space above. The effect is increased in upper floors containing lofts.
Insulation coverable downlights allow you to place thermal insulation directly on top of them.More information about insulation coverable downlights.Yes Lighting Technology LED Optional Lamps SpecificationsChoose between a selection of our most popular GU10 LEDs, or order the downlights on their own. Here is a brief description of the main 3 colour temperatures:- 2700K - Extra Warm White
Similar to a traditional light bulb or halogen. Not all LEDs are available in this colour temperature. This is often referred to as ‘soft white’ and is ideal for living rooms, or areas of relaxation. - 3000K - Warm White
Clearer lighting tone but still quite warm. This is the ‘new norm’ for general lighting and is the most popular option. If you’re unsure and want something less orangey than 2700K and not as harsh as 4000K, then try this. - 4000K - Cool White
A clearer colour tone, popular in commercial locations as well as bathrooms & kitchens. Cool white appears brighter than warm white as the LED is covered in less phosphor. It can make a room appear cold and clinical but used in a modern setting, it can make a room feel modern and brighter.
